Humanities

Perhaps the one thing my students most remembered from my Humanities class was Daily Oral Languague. It was a very boring way to teach grammar and punctuation. But, in my class it was anything but boring. We sang, chirped, hummed, burped, screamed, danced and cooed DOL. Nobody ever hated it.

We also created newspapers about ancient Greece, dug for artifacts of ancient civilizations, made posters and interpreted Oracle Eggs from Ancient China.

While teaching Humanities, my personal favorite lesson was turned into my Hammurabi website. Of course, I started this before anyone had computers in the classroom. The highlight was legal graffiti on the classroom desks. (Just be sure the markers are the kind that easily wipe off.)
