taught in Manila, Philippines, for five years.
Since they start to play Christmas music on the radio
in September, I usually tried to be in a Buddhist country
for December 25. Thailand, Burma, and Hong Kong were
repeated destinations. In the illustration, a jeepney (local public transportation) is pulling up in front of the SM mall. There are many of those malls in the Philippines. The malls are huge (and delightfully air-conditioned). Once, in one of the malls, one of my friends found T-shirts for sale with may artwork on them. |
