Chiang Mai, Thailand, has the most fascinating night market on the planet, trekking tours into the jungle, and colorful hill tribe people.   I took a couple day trips and a three day trek to see the tribes in their villages.  The people and costumes were so beautiful and I was able to get great portraits.  Chiang Mai is a little touristy. for my tastes, but I enjoyed myself.
