In this class the sixth graders work on key boarding and word processing.  It goes without saying that even using Mavis Beacon, keyboarding is not exciting.  However, the kids learn a skill that will last them a lifetime.  To ensure both the ability to type without looking at fingers and the hatred of lazy typists, I always cover the students' hands with a sheet of paper.  It forces them to learn to type without looking.  By the end of the quarter, they make remarkable progress.
