Humanities

.
Before moving to Art, I taught Humanities in grade six for three years.  I think my students most remember me for making grammar fun.  We sang, belched, screamed, and cooed our grammar.  It was not nearly as painful as I remember grammar when I was in grade 6.

It's hard to sum Humanities up in one paragraph.  We studied ancient civilizations by creating a Stone Age travel brochure, developing HyperStudio presentations on Indus, China, or Egypt, and designing a Greek newspaper.  We also deciphered Chinese oracle eggs (above left) and studied the countries and capitals of the world with current events.  Somehow, there was still time for simulations like the trial of Socrates and the Dig where we replicated artifacts from research (above right), buried them, and then had other classes dig them up.
