Charting the Globe |
|||
| This class focuses on art from around the world. I share my travels from around the globe with students. Then, we research and create art from those countries. When I share Egypt, we make paper. After hearing about West Africa, we create African masks. Once they see Peru we try our hands at clay. Instead of showing samples of the kids' work, I decided to share the stories that capture their attention -- and my slides definitely keep the students' attention. Not many of their teachers have served in the Peace Corps, been jailed (no matter how innocently), experienced an attack by rogues with knives, or survived both malaria and a couple of wrecks (Haiti and Ivory Coast). | |||
