Texture and Positive / Negative space are two of the concepts explored when creating Linoleum Block Prints.   This is one project that allows expression with detail.   The only request is that the expression is done without blood.  People who did not follow instructions on this task occasionally leave a trail of blood for others not to follow.

Fortunately, times have changed. For the last several years, I only carve on linoleum that is about as soft as an eraser. It's much easier carving and blood is a rarity since this discovery.
