Collage
.
There is quite a bit of freedom for the students to do whatever they want when they create their collages.  Some students take the traditional route and cut out magazine pictures according to a selected theme.  In the process, they learn that it isn't as easy to arrange the photos as they first supposed.  Other students select pictures from magazines for their colors and create a collage that is kind of like a mosaic.  I knew I had a great activity for the students when I heard one say, "This is the best piece of art I've ever made in my life."
