WINDHOEK ........On my first visit to Windhoek, I thought I was going to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.  But, an incompetent travel agent messed up my Ethiopian plans.  With five days notice, I was off to Namibia instead - which came highly recommended by everyone I talked to as I rushed to make preparations. And, fortunately for me, everyone was right about this. It was a wonderful place to visit.

Windhoek was quite a modern little city.  It was clean and convenient.  Unlike most of the places I had visited in the past, Namibia was not one with the best available public transportation.  At least, not to the places I wanted to go.  The best way to get around the country was to take little photo safaris or rent a vehicle.  I rarely ever did either of those options. However, when in Rome, or in this case, Windhoek, you know what you need to do. I did it.

Cardboard Box Guest House and Travel Agency was quite helpful in getting my vacation plans set.  The planned safaris were fairly reasonably priced. Of course, I don't always do what is planned. If you want something designed for yourself, shut your eyes, hand over the credit card without looking, and prepare to enjoy a beautiful country.

I hardly know anyone who has ever visited Namibia. I have enjoyed it three times. My real Namibian surprise came on my third trip when I was invited to Katutura.
