Winter in the Ardennes

at the Battle of the Bulge

ARDENNES . . .Located in the southeast corner of the country, the Ardennes has deep river valleys, tall forests, and tranquil villages. .Well, I'm not so sure about that tranquil part. .Those little villages know where tourist Euros come from and those once tranquil villages are packed with tourists.

My Belgian friends say there are mountains in the Ardennes. .Well, in the Benelux region, they may be considered mountains, but they are really hills. .That doesn't take away from their beauty, but they are still hills.

Friends living in the area gave the grand tour. .It included medieval castles, snow covered hills, and the site of World War II's Battle of the Bulge.
