| Temple
of Jupiter..... Diocletian had a temple
to Jupiter in the palace grounds. And, it also came as no surprise that
it was eventually converted into a Christian baptistery. It was tiny.
Jupiter apparently didn't merit as much attention as Diocletian's mausoleum
or home complex. However, the half-barrel shaped vaulted ceiling was
unique. It had a checkerboard design of stone faces and patterns. According
to the guidebook, it was the best preserved example of its kind anywhere.
That alone made it worth the price of admission. |
