the view of Kaptol from Gradec
the funicular

GRADEC....I strolled Tkalciceva (the café street), also unpronounceable, and then climbed steep stairs to what looked like an interesting area. As it turned out, I was in the second of the old cities, Gradec. It was old elegance with Baroque mansions. I wandered around to find my third mass of the morning, this time inside the Stone Gate. It was a small section of the old wall that once protected medieval Gradec. But, there were devout, pews, and a statue of Mary. What good Catholic needs anything else?

I also found the funicular on my way down. It would have been better to use it on the way up the hill, but I hadn't found it earlier. It was a pleasant little ride.
