AIX
en PROVENCE...Everyone
I know who visited France said that Aix en Provence was where the
French went for vacation. Street cafés, sunshine, French cuisine,
blue skies, tree lined boulevards and Mediterranean waters! What's
not to like? (Besides a cost of living that rivals Paris.)

And, I guess
it's been a destination for artists for quite some time. Paul Cézanne
lived in Aix en Provence. If you wander the downtown area, you'll
see lots of reminders of their favorite son including a statue, paintings
in the museums, street markers, and oh so many souvenirs. If you make
it out of town, you should see la montagne Sainte Victoire, a mountain
that dominates both the local landscape and many of Cézanne's
paintings.
