CHISINAU MARKET ....Markets around the world have an awful lot in common. But, I've found if I search, there are always unique little treasures. This market in Chisinau had decorative brooms that looked like they belonged in a souvenir shop. Imagine trying to get one of those home if they don't fly?

Another puzzling item was the boxes of not quite fresh roses. I had no idea what could be done with them. I asked a couple of men. They had no clue. I asked women and they all said the flowers were used in rose petal jam. I guess we know who makes the jam.

I visited during cherry and strawberry season. I rarely ever buy cherries because they are so expensive. But, two pounds of fresh cherries were under a dollar. Of course, I indulged.
