The METROPOLITAN CATHEDRAL, built in 1883 - 87, towered over much of everything else in the center. It was Romania's largest Orthodox church. With the relics of St. Paraschiva, the patron saint of Moldavia, inside the cathedral, millions of pilgrims visit each year. The mosaic work above the main entrance was especially beautiful.
