AMMAN......I only knew about one city landmark and we went directly to the Citadel, on the highest hill in Amman. The official Arabic name was Jebel al-Qual, but I could live with the Citadel. The part I knew, and that can be seen around the city, were the few standing pillars of the Temple of Hercules (built shortly before 200 A.D.) The pillars overlooked the Roman amphitheater and were a stone's throw from the National Archaeological Museum. Included in the exhibit were examples of the Dead Sea scrolls. They were inscribed in metal, which was news to me. And, you couldn't photograph them. Well, you weren't supposed to.
