The TREASURY.........Walking along the Siq is beautiful, but nothing can prepare you for the first glimpse of the Treasury (Al-Khazneh). You know it's going to be there, but you don't know the exact moment you'll see it. Naturally, with such narrow passageways, it was only partially glimpsed through the Siq. And, it will take your breath away. The façade is a mixture of Nabataean and classical architecture including gods, animals, and mythical creatures.

Built around 100 A.D., it had amazingly withstood the test of time. It is in a remote area that prevented the kind of wind erosion that happened in other parts of Petra. After the treasury, you walk along a Roman road into the rest of the city.
