SAN IGNACIO ........I knew nothing about San Ignacio. I picked it out on the map and decided it was where I wanted to paint a mural in Belize. I headed out fully expecting to make a mural connection. As it turned out, anyone who had any authority to make a decision was also on holiday. There was no mural, but the backup plan was a Mayan holiday exploring ruins. I had a great backup plan!

Who knew the closest I'd ever stay at a Hyatt hotel was in San Ignacio, Belize? However, the spelling was a little different. If you look closely at the beautiful yellow building below, you'll see the sign on the guest house wasn't quite spelled the same.

I met Linda and David while staying at the Hi-Et Guest House. David feared Linda had malaria. When I heard the symptoms, I assured him that she might need to see a doctor, but it wasn't because of malaria. Having endured that five times, I knew the symptoms. After a couple of days of rest, I joined them on a trip to Tikal.
