SAN PEDRO ........Travel across Belize to San Pedro was part two of two days of travel. It was the easier part. If you want the full story, click here for that first day.

What a difference a day made! The second day was just so much easier!

I was at the Flores, Guatemala, bus stop by 6:30 AM and on my way to Belize in half an hour. The bus could have held 25 people, but it only held seven. That only happened on tourist buses. Local buses would have been completely filled and there was a good chance that would include chickens. I kid you not. You had to pay more for the tourist buses, but it was worth the expense. There was room to stretch legs and space for luggage any where I wanted.

The Belize border was quickly crossed and in two and a half hours I was in Belize City . It was so easy! Of course, if it is too easy, there isn't much of an interesting experince to write about. Bad travel makes for good stories.

The boat ride to San Pedro was an hour and a half. I was one of the very last people to get on the boat. I was just shocked how many passengers were squeezed in. I had enough room on a bench for just one cheek. The guy behind me had way more room and a whole lot more comfort. I slowly inched back, claiming inches I knew belonged to me.

When we stopped briefly at Caye Caulker, another man got on the boat, selling banana plantain chips. He edged in between the two of us. I didn't know there was any seating possible there "butt" he made his claim.

My main entertainment on the trip was watching two little brothers directly in front of me. One snuggled into his brother's shoulder and slept for most of the trip. It was so very endearing. Not everyone endured the travel I had over two days. This little boy was at peace throughout his journey.

Upon arrival in San Pedro, I realized it wasn't motion sickness I felt. I don't usually travel well on water, but I didn't feel well even after my feet were on dry ground. I lost the gamble I took the night before at the outdoor grill. I ate things I shouldn't have eaten and it took a few days to fully recover. But, I recovered on the shores of the Caribbean. I know, no sympathy.
