CANAR, ECUADOR ..........If you love to take photos of people in traditional clothing with unique hats (like I do), grab your telephoto lens and head to Cañar. A very large portion of the population are indigenous Ecuadorians. I spent a relaxing couple of days in the town, and on each of those days I headed to the marketplace.

However, nearly every time I asked someone if I could take their photo, I was denied. So, my solution was to settle myself into an isolated corner of the market and rely on my zoom lens. And, it was a successful experience for me.

A little bit of Spanish (and I do mean very little Spanish) can open doors. At the market place, I settled in with about five people and managed to get myself a Quecha lesson. A willingness to make the effort is appreciated all over the world. But, no matter how many times I repeated the words, they just wouldn't stick. I'm pathetic with languages.
