CUSCO, PERU ... .I knew it was dangerous to return to a place like Cusco.  It held a special place in my heart for so many years.  It was so unspoiled by tourism, a quiet little town in the Andes.  Things were bound to change, but I just wasn't prepared.  Cusco exploded in size, tourism, and all the things that went with it because everyone and their brother wants to see Machu Picchu

The ride from the airport was once in the middle of nowhere.  However, the city grew and expanded around it.  There was a Starbucks right along the central square, the Plaza de Armas!  And, tourists were everywhere.  I remembered walking on streets alone, or almost that way.  The whole city crawled with so much life.

There were souvenirs all over the place!  Ice cream, internet, pizza and high end stores were everywhere to meet the demands of the hoards upon them. I tried to steer away from most of the tourist traps and focus on the market place, Sacsayhuamán, and continue on my elusive search for some "cuy".
